Kickapoo Creek Public Stakeholder Meeting – May 2, 2023

Save the Date!  Kickapoo Creek Public Stakeholder Meeting – May 2, 2023  In 2000, Kickapoo Creek in Henderson County, was identified for having bacteria concentrations that exceed the state water quality standards, therefore, a watershed protection plan is being developed to address causes and sources of pollution in the Kickapoo Creek watershed and to develop a stakeholder-driven watershed protection plan that will help improve the health of the water in Kickapoo Creek.  TIAER will host a public stakeholder meeting May 2, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. at the City of Edom Community Center, located at 150 VZCR 4800, in Edom, Texas.  Draft versions of chapters 7-10 of the Kickapoo Creek Watershed Protection Plan will be presented and discussed at this meeting. To review the WPP, please visit the project website: https://www.tarleton.edu/tiaer/kickapoo-creek-wpp/ Since decisions made about Kickapoo Creek in Henderson County will affect landowners, citizens, industries, and municipalities, your participation is fundamental to the success of this project and the water quality of our water.  Questions may be directed to ltaylor@tarleton.edu

Boil Water Notice (August 27, 2020)

To: Holmwood Utilities Customers (Public Water System ID # 1210020) Subject: BOIL WATER NOTIFICATION On Thursday, August 27, 2020, Holmwood Utilities experienced a power outage due to Hurricane Laura that resulted in low water pressures and affects the entire water system.  The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required Holmwood Utilities (PWS ID Number 1210020) to notify all customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from other suitable sources. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice. If you have questions regarding this matter you may contact Mr. Chris Key, Operations Division Manager, Angelina & Neches River Authority at (936) 632-7795 or (800) 282-5634 If you wish to contact TCEQ, you may call 512-239-4691.
